The Naked Sky of Freedom

What is freedom? For many of us, the first association is either knowingly or unknowingly with the concept of freedom of choice: the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants. But is that what freedom is really about? Is there actually authentic, unconditional freedom in the way we act, speak or think throughout our daily living?

In The Naked Sky of Freedom, Acharya Prashant challenges this commonly accepted notion of freedom and explains in great depth and detail that the belief in one’s apparent freedom is misplaced and actually an obstacle in the way of real freedom. The self, as he says, is a product of outside influences, and hence cannot have any independence or freedom of its own. The inevitable follow-up question then is, “What to do to move towards real freedom?”

Luckily for the honest questioner, The Naked Sky of Freedom offers a clear mirror for the self to firstly recognize its clutches and then start working with itself in a way that will lead to liberation from both the self and the world. What remains before, during, and after this process is the naked sky of freedom.
