Acharya Prashant welcomed at Delhi Airport

Acharya Prashant returned to India on 14 June to a large public welcome at Delhi Airport at the close of the first leg of an extended tour of Britain. A sizeable crowd gathered to receive him with chants of “Welcome Home,” marking the dialogues he had held at the University of Oxford, the Cambridge Union and the British Parliament. Supporters carried placards acknowledging his presentation of Indian philosophy on international platforms, children waved the Tricolour, and his students presented him with a potted plant as a symbol of his campaign for climate action and the environment.

Speaking to the media, Acharya Prashant located India’s most valuable inheritance not in its festivals or its cuisine but in its lines of knowledge, in Vedanta, the Upanishads, the Gita and the sustained emphasis on self-knowledge. What the world most needs from India, he said, is precisely this philosophical and contemplative wisdom rather than its cultural expressions alone.

Asked about his decision to interrupt the tour and return, he said that people were converging on Delhi-NCR from across the country for his forthcoming retreat, and that their affection could not be set aside, since it reflected a devotion to truth rather than attachment to any individual.

The tour behind him had been dense. Over roughly two weeks Acharya Prashant addressed the Cambridge India Business Dialogue 2026 as the only philosopher on its programme, held four public sessions in London, spoke to young leaders at the UK India Youth Leadership Conclave 2026, delivered a session on the Ishavasya Upanishad at the University of Oxford, and addressed a gathering at the House of Lords. Real progress, he maintained, comes not from external achievement but from recognising the inner obstacles that bind a person and working free of them.

Following his ‘Weekend With Master’ retreat in Delhi-NCR on 20 and 21 June, Acharya Prashant is to return to Britain for the second leg of the tour, with engagements scheduled at the London School of Economics, London Climate Action Week 2026 and King’s College London.
