A Zen Koan is a paradox, a puzzle, a mind teaser.
It is an equivalent of a Zen Master hitting a student with a stick, suddenly, to bring him to clarity.
Zen Koans push the seeker to relinquish his reliance on reason and hence, are a celebration of the bizarre ways of the Zen Masters to awaken the disciple.
Acharya Ji says, “When the Koans rain, go out and dance!”
But be warned: Zen Koans do not pamper. They are not kind or gentle. They leave us flabbergasted in the attempt to reason them out. They tantalise the seeker and have the seeker begging for more and more. Some seekers take years, if not centuries, to understand them. Some understand immediately!
Acharya Ji, through this course, helps us understand how to read and reflect upon Zen Koans with the eyes of an inquisitive, wondering child.
These sessions offer a doorway into the secrets of Zen practice and living life The Zen way.
